Blossom was built in 1968 as the summer home for the Cleveland Orchestra. However it soon became a favorite outdoor venue for all kinds of musical performances. It’s building cost was approximately 8 million dollars. The name honors the Dudley S. Blossom family who were major supporters of The Cleveland Orchestra throught its history. It is located on 800 acres of naturally wooded land. The Cleveland Orchestra played their opening concerts at Blossom from July 19th through the 21st in 1968. The first season at Blossom consisted of six weeks of performances by the Cleveland Orchestra and eight jazz-folk concerts.

Today Blossom has a 10 week schedule that consists of many different varieties of music. In the fall of 2001 Blossom closed for major renovation and construction. The renovations costed around 17 million dollars and was completed in time for its 2003 season. Such artists as Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, the Eagles, Julian Lennon, Elton John and Lynyrd Skynyrd have performed there.
